Newbie to AMP. Can I use my existing folder structure for Minecraft server?

I've been hosting a Minecraft server for 8 years now, I currently use Mark2 wrapper which works fine, its just hard to use on mobile so Ive been looking at alternatives including LinuxGSM, I mostly just need a fast live console I can scroll back into history and send commands.

I have my folder structure setup like this

  • /users/Minecraft/servername (runs bungee)
  • /users/Minecraft/servername/survival (Main Survival)
  • /users/Minecraft/servername/creative (Creative)
  • /users/Minecraft/servername/test (test server)
  • /users/Minecraft/servername/pvp (pvp server)
  • /users/Minecraft/servername/pvp

When installing and making servers in AMP (I've not gone through the process yet) Do I get the option to use an existing directory and existing Jar (Paper) that I can just "Start"?

Or do I have to use whatever folder structure/file saving AMP decides and create empty servers and copy everything over?

You can do this by creating an instance and changing its base path to your existing server. You must be careful to also change the file ownership to AMPs own user, but otherwise its just changing a setting in a config file if you want it to use an existing on disk server and tell it what jar to use.

Sounds simple enough.

Are there many dependencies for AMP? I like that its updated through a repository. I use mark2 as its super lightweight, but its impossible to use on mobile.

Nope, just a few basics like git, tmux, socat and other common tools that you've probably already got installed.

The full list is: coreutils, tmux, socat, unzip, git, wget, ca-certificates, xz-utils, tar - they're installed automatically when you install AMP.
